Information for visitors with wheelchairs
Due to the constructions our barrier-free access is not available from November 25th for about four weeks. Our securities will show you the way to our temporary barrier-free access 300 m around the corner.
The entrance for wheelchair users is located on the right side of the main-entrance. Nearby, you can find parking spaces for the handicapped. The „Museum für Naturkunde” offers a variety of structural measures that facilitate the stay for visitors with impaired mobility. We have for example a side-entrance for people with impaired mobility, through which the guests can get directly to the first level of the exhibition with a stair lift. This stair lift transports up to 2.500 kg. Moreover, a toilet suitable for handicapped persons is available.
Our exhibitions take place at ground level. They are mostly on the ground floor and only the halls „Native animals“, „Preparation“ and the „Humboldt Exploratorium“ are separated from the rest of the permanent exhibition through a small staircase. However, at this point a stair lift is also available.
Unfortunately, the upper floors of the new exhibition „Cosmos and solar system“, which can be found in the hallway, are not yet accessible at this point in time. Please note though that we present the content of this exhibition in a media station on the ground floor. The texts that serve to explain each specimen can easily be accessed while sitting in a wheelchair. The same goes for those parts of the exhibition that work interactively. The images shown by our jurascopes can be viewed on a big screen.
