Status

  • Visiting Scientist

Research Interests

Planetology and Cosmic Mineralogy with special emphasis on:

  • Meteorite research and the early solar system (asteroids, Mars, moon)
  • Impact processes in the planetary system and collision history of the Earth-moon system and its role in the evolution of life
  • Natural and experimental shock metamorphism of minerals and rocks

Research projects

  • Formation and collapse of ejecta plumes from large meteorite impact - a case study at the Ries crater, Germany (DFG-project in cooperation with W. U. Reimold and K. Wünnemann)
  • Classification and nomenclature of impactites and shock classification of planetary rocks
