Departments

The Museum für Naturkunde has one of the largest public display collections in Germany, as well as scientifically valuable collections with over 30 million items. It has an excellent technical research infrastructure.

All of this is supported by :
• The Department for Collections
• The Department for Research Infrastructure
• The Department for Exhibitions and Public Education

The Department for Collections looks after the collections, which provide indispensible material for scientists all over the world. The scientists. (curators) work here. They are also responsible for the maintenance of their collections.

The Department for Research Infrastructure comprises the geo-science and bio-science laboratories, and the preparation workshops with their staff.

The Department for Exhibitions and Public Education is responsible for the exhibitions and the educational programme. Employees of the Department work closely together with all other members of staff for effective PR and in the development of educational programmes.

The Departments support the research areas in their research as well as in their PR work.
