The Museum's journals

The Museum für Naturkunde publishes three scientific journals: Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift (DEZ), Zoosystematics and Evolution (formerly Zoologische Reihe) and Fossil Record.

In accordance with the Museum's scientific objectives we are committed to serve the scientific community by providing a three-fold forum for high quality research pertaining to the discovery of biodiversity, to understanding evolutionary processes as well as the development of our planet and the solar system.

Over the years, all three journals have undergone an evolutionary process themselves, and have matured to internationally recognized journals. All submitted manuscripts undergo at least one internal and 2 external peer reviews. The journals are published in English language and are ISI listed. DEZ and Fossil Record have impact factors (0.529, and 1.875), Zoosystematics and Evolution is soon to follow. The editorial boards of each journal are assisted by an advisory board which is composed of renowned leaders in the respective fields. Authors are scholars from out- and inside the Museum.

Our commitment to authors includes excellent and comprehensive editorial assistance, encouraging and facilitating the preparation also of comprehensive manuscripts, and guarantees a high quality of publication, both online and in print. We follow a no-page-charge-policy and grant 25 free reprints per published article, thus facilitating the publication of manuscripts by young, not yet established scientists.
