Library of the Museum für Naturkunde

Buecher

The library of the Museum für Naturkunde is one of the most important reference libraries for zoology in the German-speaking region, with holdings going back to the 15th century. Further focal points are palaeontology , mineralogy and geology.
The holdings encompass ca. 167 000 individual objects. Over 850 journal titles are continually maintained.
These holdings form a reference library, primarily used by museum staff, but also available to members of the public with a particular scientific interest. Since there is no public access, external visitors are requested to make an appointment by telephone. A coin-operated photocopier is available for external guests.

Monographs published up to 1962 have been conventionally catalogued. Electronic records for periodicals and monographs published after 1963 are currently hosted in the OPAC of the Humboldt University (http://www.ub.hu-berlin.de) under the code B16. Access to electronic journals and databases are also currently available under this address.
