Research at the Museum für Naturkunde is currently based on the activities of c. 60 scientists in permanent or temporary positions, particularly the 36 curators responsible for the diverse collections. In addition, the research department holds under its roof seven professorships. In addition we host several MSc and PhD-students and visiting scientists both from Germany and abroad. The research of the currently (as of April 2007) altogether 97 scientists and 24 technical staff of the research department is largely based on the museum’s rich holdings of zoological objects (e.g. taxidermic objects or samples preserved in ethanol) as well as the valuable collections of fossils, minerals and meteorites. |
