Research in the Museum

  • Optimisation of automated DNA extraction method
  • Optimisation of PCR protocols for museum mollusc specimens with particular focus on Tylomelania

Research Interest

Since 2002, my research was on mosquitoes- taxonomy of Culex pipiens s.l., the identification of the Anopheles maculipennis complex in the UK, host preference and presence of Stegomyia aegytpi and Stegomyia albopicta (Aedes albopictus) in various habitats in Singapore.

Currently I am involved in a combined SYNTHESIS project focusing on museum specimens. This involves the optimisation of a DNA extraction method as well as a PCR protocol for molluscs.
