  • 1. Antarctic palynological studies
    a. Development of terrestrial Antarctic floras during the Cretaceous and Tertiary especially during the Mid-Eocene climatic optimum. Reconstruction of floral communities, biogeographic and climatic development.</br> b. Development of dinocyst assemblages from Early Cretaceous through Pliocene their diversity and climatic implications (development of cold water masses, productivity and reconstruction of Antarctic glaciation). Involvement in studies on Kerguelen Plateau material from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Leg 183.
  • 2. Major steps in plant evolution: Mid-to late Cretaceous radiation of Gnetophytes and flowering plants.
  • 3. History of geosciences, especially paleobotany.
